Saskatoon Studio Policies & Procedures

STUDIO MANDATE

SaskExpress Saskatoon  provides an inclusive, welcoming and family friendly environment for students of all ages and levels of experience.  We believe that training in the performing arts encourages self confidence, teamwork, creativity and helps students to develop the ability persevere when faced with a challenge.  We are highly invested in the growth of each of our students and we are fortunate to have the opportunity to be part of their development as both individuals and performers.

OBJECTIVE

Our classes are designed to allow students to develop dance, voice, acting and performance skills in a safe environment that provides encouragement and inspiration, while helping our students develop a positive self-image.

STUDIO COMMUNICATION PROCEDURES

The majority of studio communication is through email.  Please ensure that your email and contact info is kept up to date and that you check your email for class updates, cancellations and studio information. If your information changes, please update it through your account at www.saskexpress.com.

General inquires, attendance notices, concerns and inquiries should be sent to Saskatoon Studio General Email: saskatoon@saskexpress.com

Student class placement is determined by the Artistic Director, Dance Development Director and instructors with the best interests of each student in mind.  Placement queries should be directed to our email above.

All studio schedules, calendars and information are sent via email and then updated on the studio website….. www.sesaskatoon.ca …..If you have forgotten or misplaced studio passwords, please contact us via email or telephone.

Rehearsal videos are posted in Dropbox links for some of our groups.  These links are posted with the class information.

REIMBURSEMENT / REFUND POLICY

Costume fees are non refundable after November.

Competitions are non refundable.

To cancel a class, you shall provide a minimum of one month’s written notice to cancel monthly payments.  Failure to provide adequate notice will result in the refund not being processed.  To cancel a class contact the studio via email (saskatoon@saskexpress.com).

ATTENDANCE POLICY

Students are expected to attend classes regularly.

If you are unable to attend, you can email us!

Students registered in competition and exam classes with three or more unexcused absences  may be removed from the class, competitions, or require additional instruction at the cost of the family / student.  We do respect and understand that students have other commitments, however we expect your classes to also be a priority.   Medical and family emergencies are exempt from this policy.

STUDIO ETIQUETTE

Students, parents /guardians are expected to respect our directors, instructors and class assistants at all times.

Please do not interrupt instructors before, during or after classes.  If you have something you wish to discuss please email the studio and a time can be arranged.  (saskatoon@saskexpress.com)

Please remove outdoor footwear at the front doors.

SaskExpress is not responsible for lost, stolen or misplaced items.  Valuables should be left at home.

Students should wait in the building for their rides.  The studio is not responsible for unsupervised children.

Students are expected to attend and participate in studio events, including the Recital, Competitions and any other class performances that may be scheduled.

CELL PHONES are not to be used during class and should be kept in bags with the ringer turned off.

Appropriate dance shoes and attire are expected as per class requirements.  Long hair should be pulled up neatly off a student’s face or in a bun for ballet.

Excessive talking is not acceptable as it is disruptive to the class and the instructors.

Water bottles with a sealing lid may be brought into the studios.  Please no cans, juice boxes or coffees / teas.

Parents are welcome to remain at the studio in the waiting area, unless invited into class by the instructor.

PARKING

There is a parking lot in front of our building, please remain respectful of other vehicles as well as the disability parking.

Please do not leave valuables in your vehicle.

SASKEXPRESS CODE OF CONDUCT

All students, parents, guardians, directors, instuctors and employees will treat each other with respect.  There is a zero tolerance policy for negative or hurtful behaviour.

Positive behavior is expected during classes, choreography sessions, rehearsals, competitions, recitals and ALL studio events.

Gossiping or derogatory comments in class and on social media will not be tolerated.

When representing SaskExpress, positive and professional behaviour is expected.  Any activity or comment that could negatively affect the reputation of SaskExpress is not acceptable and will not be tolerated.

When attending any event or competition it is expected that SaskExpress families and staff will be respectful of ALL attendees.  Any concerns regarding any other groups should immediately be brought to the attention of the Studio Director.

Applause is the proper way to show support and enthusiasm for a performer or performance.  Students are expected to be gracious when accepting awards at workshops and competitions.

Failure to adhere to this Code of Conduct by a student or family member of a student may result in the discontinuation of the student’s enrollment at SaskExpress.

CONSEQUENCES

First Consulation
For matters involving students, parents/ guardians or instructors, the Studio Directors will meet with the individuals involved.   The problem will be defined on paper.  Goals will be established and an approach for solving the problem will be determined.

Second Consultation
If the initial plan for resolving the issue fails a second meeting will be held and may involve the General Manager or the SaskExpress CEO.  Another attempt to identify the problem and establish new problem solving approaches will be discussed.  Consequences will be determined should the problem persist.

Suspension or Discontinuation of Studio Enrollment
If the previous processes fail to resolve the situation, the student and or parent/guardian may be suspended from the Studio or the student’s enrollment may be terminated.

The Studio Directors may immediately suspend a child’s enrollment at any time if they exhibit behaviour that the Studio Directors consider to be harmful to themselves or to others.
